Do you feel you have come a long way since you started?
Since I started blogging? Definitely. Considering I originally started blogging about 5 years ago, I’ve made so many changes and a lot of progress. Granted, I picked this blog back up back in August, and even comparing myself to when I started then, I’ve come a long way. I’m so happy I’ve made blogging an everyday thing!
What is the craziest conversation you have ever overheard?
This is a hard one to answer because I know I’ve heard some crazy conversations, and awkward conversations, but I can’t for the life of me, remember any at this moment. Probably because they have not happened recently. It’s annoying me that I can’t remember!
Is there a moment in life that defined who you are today? If so, what?
I would say there are a few defining moments that have made me who I am today. When my step sister left the family. When my step dad left, both the first and second time. When my mom and I got in this really bad argument this one night she was drunk. The night I lost my virginity. The first date I went on. My job and the people I work with. There’s a lot of little and a lot of big moments that have added up to making me the person I am today.
What would you tell your 10 year old self about the world?
Hold on to being young, stop wanting to grow up so fast. You’ll never be this innocent again, cherish it. Things will get better in time, but you’ve got to learn to stand up for yourself. Don’t be afraid of what’s out there!
What is your pet peeve?
Where do I begin because there is a whole list of pet peeves lol! When there’s food in my clean dish water. When I’m trying to ask a customer a question about their order on the phone, and they cut me off and keep going. Like, I can’t get past this screen until you tell me if you want your sub toasted or not. When customers throw me off by reading back their order to me on the phone, or try to have a conversation. On the phone. When the Yelp guy calls on the phone and it’s been a year and my boss still doesn’t want to call him back, but by God, they keep trying. When I’m minding my own business at work and TL has to keep saying my name and then telling me he’s not saying “Laken,” he’s saying “Lincoln.” Why has this guy never been punched in the face before? Soooo annoying.
This list can go on, I’m easily annoyed these days. So many pet peeves.
The hardest thing you’ve ever had to do?
Again, there’s probably quite a few. The one instance I’m remembering right now is having to call the cops on my step dad because he was threatening to burn the house down and he threw a gas can at me. Not to mention he took a sledgehammer to the door. That moment defined the means to an end. The end of my mother’s relationship with this man. And a whole lot of stuff after that. But it was hard. Because this man had been my father for 20 years. More so than my biological father.
Dogs or Cats?
Honestly? Both. I love cats, they’re full of spunk. We have three of them, all with their own personality. They’re easier to take care of and they do their own thing. Dogs, however, are wonderful creatures and they’re very lovable. But they require a little more taking care of.

What is your favourite type/genre of book to read and do you have a favourite book?
I have quite a few favorite genres, because for me, it varies depending on my mood. Honestly, I haven’t been reading lately and I keep wanting to, just been lacking time. But I like a little bit of everything! It depends if the story is something that sounds interesting, original, or just something I would feel drawn to read. Like movies, I like books that make me think long after I’ve read them, that keep me wanting to come back and visit the characters. I have too many favorite books, and since I haven’t read anything for awhile, I don’t even have a recent favorite to add.
If you ruled your country for the day, what law would you bring in?
This is actually a great question, and one I don’t really know how to answer. So the first one that I can really think of is I think everyone should have to work a month in customer service. I started off saying day, then week, but really, you need some kind of experience that’s going to sit with you for awhile. There are some people who don’t know how to talk to those of us who have to wait on you, and think we should cater to you, but have never experienced what it’s like being behind the counter. So, it’s not a huge law, but it should be one. Kind of like how jury duty is mandatory.
What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Loyal. Reserved. Guarded.
What made you want to start a blog?
I’ve talked about this a few times already. I had a blog with a few friends, but I wanted to make my own personal blog to talk about whatever I wanted to. I came back with this blog back in August and I’ve been so happy I’ve been consistent with it since. I just wanted a place to share my thoughts, feelings, anything and everything. A public journal, a place to get back into creative writing.
Who is your favourite music artist/band?
I don’t really have a favorite set artist or band because there’s quite a number that I love. And it varies so much. I might jam out to a specific artist or band for a week and then mix it up. Always changing these days. So I don’t really have a favorite.
What is the thing you’d most like to do in 2018?
Honestly, I need to get out of this town. I want to get myself into a different job, and move to the city. I can’t handle another full year in this town. I’ll be 25 next year, and I really want to get my life started. I’m not happy here.
What is your plans for your blog?
I want to keep writing everyday, having posts everyday. I wish I had more time to do everything that I wanted – I’ve failed at my personal photography challenges due to lack of extra time. I feel like I have time for one or the other – write or photography, and right now, writing is something I feel more drawn to. But I’m hoping with time, I can do even more than I’m doing right now.
There is no pressure to write a post for this if you choose not to! However, I’d love to read your answers to my questions if you do choose to participate! You can one or the other or both. I’m only making one set of questions so you can do what you would like or take the questions I had to answer. I’m leaving this up to you!
- Favorite animal?

- What is one thing you hope to do in 2018?
