Today has been a bit of an off day. I planned on going out last night, but no one hit me up. Found out today that everyone basically stayed home anyways. Woke up this morning around 9:30 a.m., read some blog posts, started the day off great. My best friend called me, and we talked for almost 2 hours. As much as I love our phone calls, it through me off. I didn’t write my morning blog post as I’ve been doing the last month or so, and today’s been a cleaning day, so it’s set me back.
I’m not complaining! But I realized that my topic for today was “Write the beginning to a scary story and have your readers write the ending” and I don’t think that’s going to happen today. So instead, I’m giving you a journal entry! I may choose this as a topic for tomorrow morning on top of my other writing post.
Let me say, I am not used to having a Friday and Saturday off with no plans to go anywhere. Granted, these two days are going to be spent helping my mom get the house organized, but ideally, I hate doing it on a weekend. Today was also payday, and for the first time since I started working there last year, I was not working a payday Friday. So I actually had to walk up to work to pick up my paycheck (we don’t have direct deposit). Needless to say, I found out everyone stayed in last night, and I’m probably going out later. So I won’t have much time to write later tonight.
Wanna hear a funny story? I was filling up our dressing bottles yesterday at work, and I needed both Italian and Balsamic containers because I used what was left up front. So I went to the back and I grabbed them. The Italian bottle was sticky, so as I was opening the door, I decided that moment was a good time to try to get a better grip on it. Naturally, as my luck would have it, I dropped the Italian container, the lid busted and it went everywhere!
This is not the first time I’ve done something like this. I once dumped a container of sweet hot wing sauce all over myself. My manager, Alex, he just stood there and laughed at me. He told me how happy he was that he was able to witness me doing that. My messes apparently make his day. You have to have something to laugh about, right? Anyways, Italian dressing was all over the floor, and all I could do was stand there and repeat, “I’m sorry guys,” over and over. They helped me clean it up and I felt so useless. Everyone was cool about it. I just couldn’t help thinking how this is my kind of luck. Actually, I thought about writing a post on all of my spills I’ve made at work. They’re actually a little hilarious.
Shortly after my mess was fixed (salt everywhere on the floor because it helps with oily messes), Alex was making salads for an order, and one of them had Italian dressing. He dropped it on the floor. It was hilarious! Later on in the day, one of my other coworkers dumped chicken grease from the wings on the floor as well. It was just a terribly off day overall.
With me not doing my daily challenge today, I still wanted to make sure I wrote something. I really do love writing everyday, and I’ll write that post. Just today is off, and I won’t have time to get creative. I knew I gave myself that post idea, just forgot when it was. Ironic that it would happen to fall on October 13th, it’s actually a great day for it. If anything, I’ll have something ready for tomorrow.
