My Morning Routine (#4)

Every morning, on days I work, I wake up between 8am and 9am. It depends on how awake or motivated I’m feeling. Then I’ll hop in the shower. I wash my hair every other day. Today I washed it.

After my shower, I towel dry my hair some, and then head downstairs to make myself a cup of coffee. If my mom is up, I’ll use her coffee. If she’s not, I’ll use my Keurig and make a cup that way. I bought my Keurig off the LetGo app for $25. I’m noticing it doesn’t always fill my  cup up though, so I don’t know if that’s an issue Keurig’s have or not.

I make my coffee with two spoonfuls of sugar, and two spoonfuls of cream (I use the Coffee Mate Original stuff). Fancy creamer just gets to be a bit pricey and it never lasts long. Plus, I’ve been liking the coffee taste a lot more these days. I used to make tea in the morning to cut back on coffee.

Once my coffee is ready, I’ll take it upstairs with me and pop out my laptop and start writing out my daily blog post. Which is exactly what I’m doing right now.

My days off are rather similar, except I push the shower back to after coffee and writing. And I tend to let myself sleep in to closer to 10am. It’s amazing what an extra hour of sleep can do for you. It’s also amazing what waking up and not having to stress about going to work does for you.

After my blog post is done, I look up pictures to add to the post, and then publish it once I feel comfortable with how it looks and feels. Before I officially leave for work, I get changed into work clothes. If I was wearing my contacts, I’d throw some eyeliner and mascara on, but I’ve been wearing my glasses the last week because I wore my last pair of contacts for way too long. Working on getting an eye exam soon. Anyways, I’m not doing more than some lip moisturizer today. On days I don’t wash my hair, I add a few curls to make my hair look a little livelier, and I’ve also found that it helps keep my bangs out of my face, and therefore they don’t get oily as quick. 5 minutes of curls equals a day of people saying I look nice. It works.

Now that it’s getting colder out (or is it? Because it’s back into being 80 degrees again), I’ll have to find time to dry my hair before walking to work. I just kind of let it air dry now. My luck, I won’t dry it and I’ll get sick just from walking to work.

That basically sums up my morning routine. Today, I’m adding in calling my doctor’s office to try to get an appointment scheduled. I miss wearing contacts! Hot weather makes my nose sweat from my glasses, and it just wears heavy on my face throughout the day. Contacts give me a chance to wear sunglasses and just feel better about myself. Glasses are more lounging around for me.

Tomorrow, I finally get a day off. I need to go to the DMV, and get some things around the house done. So it’s not going to be much of a day off unfortunately. I’m hoping I can make it to Wal-Mart because I really don’t want to order food out at all this weekend with it being Homecoming. Not really interested in waiting two hours for pizza or an hour for food. I’m not sure how it’s going to be yet, but I’m only working Friday and Saturday so I can’t complain. Plus, it’s supposed to be gorgeous out this weekend, which means most of our sales are going to be beer related because people will be outside. Fingers crossed.

  1. It was fun reading this piece. The honest and mundane daily life details are actually refreshing to read 🙂
The diary-entry style kind of reminds me of Meg Cabot’s Princess Diaries book series (my all time favorite!)
What kind of job do you do, though? Curious now because you mentioned it in the post a few times.

      1. Girl, we’re total opposites! Hahaha. It’s actually 1:28 AM here, Friday, and I’m awake as ever. I’m really nocturnal and I feel like I am more productive at night. Maybe because I like the silence a lot.

Buuuut I really want to be a morning person lately. I’m just having a hard time 😂

      2. Haha ohh gosh I’d be so sleepy 😂 actually most times I’m in bed by midnight. And I feel quite a few people I know are like that! More awake at night. When I was younger I used to be, but my body is so used to being up early nowadays – it’s made me a morning person haha.

I think it comes with time honestly 😂 when you have a job where you work 6am or 8am shifts, or you have early classes, it forces you to get on a new schedule lol
