Goals For September

August is winding down and tomorrow is the first day of a new month. This year is flying right by. Where’d all this time go?  We’re much closer to 2018 than 2016 now. So odd. I’m trying to be excited about it, but the only thing I can think of is that summer is almost over, fall will be brief, and then it’ll be cold and miserable winter once again. Not looking forward to that.

However, back to what I’m actually here to write about: my September goals! I want to do another monthly challenge. Kind of sticking to the same thing I’ve been doing – I don’t have a set list of topics, but I do have a list written down that I’ve been picking and choosing from and adding to. I want to keep these daily posts up.

At the same time, I think I mentioned in a previous post, I want to also start challenging myself with some creative posts. There’s no way I’m going to be able to make myself do those on a daily basis, so I’m thinking of making it a weekly challenge to make myself warm up to writing creatively again. Every week I want to give myself a prompt or an idea to base my writing on. One idea I had was picking random song titles and writing something based on the impression I get from the title and the song itself – a short story inspired by it. I think if I keep it short and simple, I’ll motivate myself more to write.

The next thirty days are going to be filled with even more writing. I’m excited to keep myself blogging and to mix it up a bit!

If anyone has some good ideas on how to get back into creative writing, let me know, I’m interested!
